Wild Things Kitchen & Bakery Privacy Policy
This notice explains how we collect and use personal information when you visit wildthingsfood.uk, join our mailing list or contact us through the website or by email. It also explains your choices and rights. It does not cover every aspect of our business: other activities, such as CCTV or recruitment, require separate privacy information where relevant.

Information we collect
When you subscribe, we collect your email address, any name and preferences you provide, and a record of when and how you gave consent. When you contact us, we collect the details you provide, which may include your name, telephone number, business details and the contents of your enquiry or correspondence.
Squarespace processes technical information about website visits, such as IP address, browser, device and network information. Depending on your cookie choices, analytics may include pages viewed, how you reached the site, links clicked and visit dates and times. Our email platform also provides delivery, unsubscribe and campaign engagement information, as explained below.
Subscribing and contacting us are voluntary. Without the details needed to answer your question, we may be unable to respond. You can browse the website without subscribing. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your enquiry.
How we use your information
Purposes and lawful bases
Newsletters and marketing: your consent, to send the Wild Things updates you have requested. Where we use optional email open or click tracking, we rely on your consent to that tracking, separately from your choice to receive marketing.
Enquiries: our legitimate interests in answering questions, managing relationships and running our business. If you ask us to arrange a booking or agreement with you, we use the information necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract.
Website operation and security: our legitimate interests in providing a working, secure website and preventing misuse. We obtain consent for optional analytics cookies and associated analytics processing.
Privacy requests, complaints and statutory duties: compliance with our legal obligations. We may retain relevant correspondence for our legitimate interests in establishing or defending legal claims. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the effect on your privacy and whether your rights override those interests.
Our mailing list
We use Squarespace Email Campaigns to send news about Wild Things, including opening news, menus, events, workshops and stories from the kitchen, bakery and garden. An enquiry does not automatically add you to our mailing list.
You can withdraw marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting hello@wildthingsfood.uk. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing based on consent. We do not sell your personal information. Subscribing does not sign you up to separate mailing lists operated by other related organisations.
Email engagement information
Squarespace Email Campaigns provides information about delivery, unsubscribes, opens and link clicks. Open tracking uses a small invisible image to record when an email image loads; tracked links record clicks. Email privacy features and security scanning can affect these measurements, so they are not always accurate.
With your consent, we use open and click information to understand which content is useful and improve future newsletters. Consent to receive newsletters is not, on its own, consent to optional tracking. You can withdraw tracking consent by emailing hello@wildthingsfood.uk. We will stop sending tracked emails to you; this does not automatically withdraw your separate marketing consent.
Providers and website cookies
Who receives information
We use Squarespace to host our website and provide website tools and analytics, and Squarespace Email Campaigns to manage subscriptions and send newsletters. We use Google Workspace for business email and the correspondence held in that service.
We may also give access to website support providers where necessary to maintain the site, and share relevant information with professional advisers, regulators or public authorities where needed to meet legal duties or establish or defend legal claims.
Providers processing personal information on our behalf must protect it and follow our instructions under appropriate contractual terms. Providers may also process certain service information for their own purposes, such as security and service administration, as described in their privacy information.
International transfers
Squarespace and Google may store or access information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where a transfer requires safeguards under UK law, the relevant provider arrangements use applicable UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum where appropriate. The applicable mechanism depends on the provider and transfer.
Contact hello@wildthingsfood.uk for information about the safeguards relevant to your data, including how to obtain a copy. Our providers’ contractual information is available below.

Cookies and website analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Necessary cookies support core website functions and remember choices. Optional analytics cookies help us understand website use. We ask for consent before optional analytics or marketing cookies are used.
You can accept or reject optional cookies, and change your choices later, through the website’s cookie preferences control. Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent browsing. Browser settings also let you manage or delete cookies, although blocking necessary cookies may affect website functions. Website cookie choices do not control tracking within emails.
Squarespace cookie information and standard lifetimes
Retention and your rights
How long we keep information
Ordinary enquiries and correspondence: normally for 12 months after the enquiry and necessary follow-up are complete. We may keep relevant records longer for an ongoing relationship, a legal obligation, an unresolved complaint or a potential legal claim. We retain only what is needed for that continuing purpose.
Mailing-list details: while you remain subscribed. Following an unsubscribe or objection, we retain a minimal suppression record for as long as needed to prevent unwanted marketing and demonstrate your preference. Consent evidence is retained for as long as needed to demonstrate compliance and deal with relevant complaints or claims.
Technical and campaign records: for the period needed to operate and secure the services and assess website or campaign performance, taking account of provider settings and available deletion controls. Cookie lifetimes vary as described in the linked information. We review retention and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.
Keeping information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. Access is limited to people and providers who need it for their work.
Your rights and choices
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you can ask for access to and a copy of your information, correction, deletion, restriction of use, and a portable copy of information you have provided where the legal conditions apply. You can withdraw consent at any time.
You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. Contact hello@wildthingsfood.uk to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month and explain if the law permits more time.
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Questions and complaints
Send privacy concerns or complaints to hello@wildthingsfood.uk or the postal address on page 1, explaining what happened and how to contact you. We acknowledge complaints within 30 days, investigate without undue delay, keep you informed and communicate the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
